Post subject:  [Resolved] Debian Lenny / Fusion Black 430

Hi,

I have made a post in the install instructions, and maybe that's not the good way, sorry. So, I explain again here in that new post :

I'm on Debian Lenny with kernel 2.6.26-1-686.
I try to install my LCD, but I've got an error message while I try to load the module :
pandor:~# lsmod | grep lirc
lirc_dev               10548  0
pandor:~# modprobe lirc_imon
FATAL: Error inserting lirc_imon (/lib/modules/2.6.26-1-686/misc/lirc_imon.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)
pandor:~# modinfo lirc_imon | grep lcd
parm:           is_lcd:The device is an LCD: 0=no (it's a VFD), 1=yes (default:yes) (int)
pandor:~# modprobe lirc_imon is_lcd=1
FATAL: Error inserting lirc_imon (/lib/modules/2.6.26-1-686/misc/lirc_imon.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

pandor:~#

At first I was thinking about a locales problem, but that's not : i tried to compile all the locales, and it do the same... I can't load the module.
And I have to tell that I do not have any error while compiling lirc cvs sources.
Can someone help me ?

Post subject:  Re: Debian Lenny / Fusion Black 430

I too have been having quite a time getting the Fusion Black LCD to show anything but blue with Debian Lenny. I tried all combinations of using the repository packages & compiling from source. The lirc compile worked, but I got an error when I tried to modprobe the lirc_imon module, but when I just installed the package and built the module this way:

sudo apt-get install lirc lirc-modules-source
cd /usr/src
sudo tar -xjf lirc-modules.tar.bz2
sudo apt-get install linux-source-2.6.26 linux-headers-2.6.26-1-amd64 kernel-package
sudo m-a update,prepare
sudo dpkg-reconfigure lirc-modules-source
sudo m-a a-i lirc
sudo dpkg -i lirc-modules-2.6.26-1-amd64_0.8.3-2+2.6.26-4_amd64.deb
sudo modprobe lirc_imon is_lcd=1

I did see the imon as a configuration option & I could load the licr_imon module.

I didn't have any problem patching, compiling & installing lcdproc. Everything looked fine from what I could see, but still no change on the display - just blue.

I noticed this post: http://codeka.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=39#p253...and decide do try loading the packaged lirc module with the "is_lcd=1" option (as you can also see from above):

sudo modprobe -r lirc_imon
sudo modprobe lirc_imon is_lcd=1

I think the contrast immediately changed (got dimmer), but I wasn't looking right at the LCD, so I can't say for sure. However, once I fired up LCDd, bingo! I'm up and running now! I hope that helps you as well.

Post subject:  Re: Debian Lenny / Fusion Black 430

I did like you and LCD and IR work !
I add this line to /etc/modprobe.d/option :
options lirc_imon is_lcd=1

This mean that the lirc cvs version is not needed for the Antec Fusion Black, only a lirc 0.8.3 with the imon module and the is_lcd=1 is.

Thank you.
